The Irishman, Martin Scorsese‘s highly anticipated new mobster movie for Netflix, is finally playing in theaters today. But, unfortunately, many of Scorsese’s fans will still need to wait for a few more weeks before they can finally see the film. After a three-week, Oscar-qualifying run in select theaters, The Irishman will head to Netflix at the end of the month. Just have a little patience!
In case you hadn’t heard, The Irishman stars Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, and Joe Pesci, and is based on the true story from Frank “The Irishman” Sheeran’s memoir, I Heard You Paint Houses. Sheeran, played by De Niro, was close friends with union organizer Jimmy Hoffa (Pacino), who famously “disappeared” in 1975. Though it was never proven, and Sheeran never revealed what really happened, most suspect Hoffa was taken out by the mafia. In other words, Scorsese has reunited with De Niro and Pesci for a classic gangster film, just like the old days. It’s no wonder fans are excited and wondering when The Irishman is headed to Netflix.
