October 23, 2022 — The Metro Detroit lawyer suspected of plotting Dan (Hutch the Jeweler) Hutchinson’s murder last summer, offered the hit men $50,000 via an intermediary, according to police interviews in the aftermath of the crime. Gangster Report has reviewed a copy of the Oak Park Police Department file on the Hutchinson homicide.
The 47-year old Hutchinson, the Motor City’s undisputed “King of Bling,” was shot to death behind the wheel of his luxury SUV on the afternoon of June 3, 2022, outside the Pay Benny pawn shop he had recently purchased in Oak Park, Michigan. Last month, Fox2 TV reported that prosecutors in Oakland County theorize the attorney orchestrated the Hutch the Jeweler hit in order to steal millions from his estate by way of a will he drafted for Hutchinson and his wife, Marissa, shortly before Hutchinson was slain.
Although prosecutors in Oakland County have already charged three people in Hutchinson’s shocking, still-unfolding-in-real-time murder conspiracy — one of them being the alleged shooter –, the unnamed lawyer remains at large and uncharged. Hutchinson owned Hutch’s Jewelry in Oak Park, an urban-chic staple in the spending habits of Detroit’s high-end hip-hop, athlete and entertainer crowd. Oak Park is a suburb directly north of Detroit’s city limits on the near westside.
The Hutchinsons left a morning meeting with the attorney in question at around noon on June 3 and went to the temporarily-shuttered Pay Benny building, less than a mile down the street from the jewelry store, to lock up after a carpenter finished up some flooring work for a remodel. Hutch the Jeweler was killed in the parking lot, according to the indictment in the case, gunned down by “Precious” Roy Larry, who rode a motor bike past the Hutchinsons’ GMC Yukon Denali and sprayed the driver’s seat with 14 shots from a semi-automatic weapon
Precious Roy Larry’s older brother, Darnell Larry, 57, and Angelo Raptoplous, 32, were indicted as Precious Roy’s co-conspirators early last month. All three have pleaded not guilty to the charges and are being held without bail awaiting trial. Darnell Larry has a prior murder conviction in which he served 25 years in prison for. Raptoplous has no criminal record.
Prosecutors accuse Raptoplous of acting as a go-between for the alleged attorney mastermind in the homicide conspiracy and the Larry brothers. Precious Roy Larry, 45, did two years in state prison out of Ohio for drug trafficking in the 2000s. Both Larry brothers hail from Detroit’s Eastside.
Police suspect the lawyer in question has also sought to murder Marissa Hutchinson and possibly other members of the Hutchinson family to cut his links to the crime. In the months prior to Hutch the Jeweler’s murder, him and Marissa were approached by the attorney to invest in a horror movie starring Oscar-winner Cuba Gooding, Jr. and Terrence Howard called Skeletons in the Closest, per sources, but the Hutchinsons turned down the request.
Over the past three decades, Hutch’s Jewelry Store, has become known for outfitting Detroit’s rich and famous — most prominently, the area’s rapper, actor and athlete crowd — in customed-made diamond-studded chains, Cartier eyeglasses, rings, bracelets and Olde English D pendants. The business was started by Hutchinson’s parents at the now-defunct Northland Mall in 1990.
A number of out-of-state celebrities became dedicated customers of Hutch the Jeweler’s and often showed off his custom-made pieces on their social media accounts. Best-selling Miami rapper Rick Ross is one of the jewelry store’s most loyal patrons.
