Guns discovered inside home of mobster’s grandson in Connecticut

Various firearms paired with silencers have been discovered inside the home of a New York mobster’s grandson in Fairfield, Connecticut.

Michael Mallay, was handed multiple charges including numerous counts of criminal possession of a firearm, illegal possession of an assault weapon, and the possession of a silencer.

During the Monday arraignment of the 43-year-old, his lawyer, John R. Gulash, pleaded for a low bond from Superior Court Judge Kevin Doyle.

Gulash argued that his client has no past criminal convictions and the guns belonged to a “family member.”  Mallay is currently living in Duchess County, NY.

“There is nothing to suggest he is a flight risk,” the lawyer said.

In contrary, Senior Assistant State’s Attorney Nicholas Bove requested the judge give Mallay a high bond based on the severity of the charges.  “This is a significant amount of firearms, many of which had been reported stolen,” the judge ultimately stated.

Mallay was ordered to be held in lieu of $250,000 bond and continued the case until June 4th.

Ronald Mallay, Mallay’s grandfather, was sentenced to life in prison for his operating of a “murder-for-hire” organization in New York.  In addition, Mallay’s father, Donald, has been arrested numerous times and has multiple convictions for his involvement in organized crime in New York.

Michael Mallay was renting the home in Fairfield, CT until October 2020.
