New Years Day Chase, Shootout & Crash In New Orleans Claims 3NG Gang Lieutenant Boogie McCann

January 2, 2020 — New Orleans underworld figure Christopher (C-Boogie) McCann was killed in a New Years car wreck on South Claiborne Avenue where witnesses said they heard gunfire accompanying a vehicle chase. The 45-year old McCann was a member of the 3NG Gang, sometimes referred to as the 39’ers Crew.

It is unclear if McCann was killed by the impact of the car crash or by gunshots that rang out outside the Big Man Lounge and other establishments along Louisiana Avenue as patrons watched a chase that ended near the corner of Louisiana and South Claiborne. McCann had been convicted of drug and racketeering offenses in 2014 and smacked with a 20-year state prison term, however he was released after serving just 26 months. Police found him dead behind the wheel of his pick-up truck after it stuck a utility pole.

The 3NG Gang sprung up in 2009 around the Third & Galvez intersection and with the downfall of kingpin “Wild Telly” Hankton and the Hankton Family Gang in subsequent years vaulted the 39’ers to the forefront of the Crescent City dope game.
